Seven people were fired after beating children with disabilities at the Zabota center in the Andijan region.
Videos of children with disabilities being beaten at the "Gamkhurlik" (meaning "Care") center in the Kurgantepa district of the Andijan region have surfaced on social media. The National Agency for Social Protection announced that it had fired six teachers and a nurse seen in the video.
In the Andijan region, seven employees of the "Zabota" (Care) center were fired after an incident involving the beating of children with disabilities, according to the National Agency for Social Protection under the President of Uzbekistan.
For reference: The "Gamkhurlik" (Care) centers were established this year, replacing the "Muruvvat" (Kindness) boarding houses. They accommodate children with disabilities (as determined by a psychological, medical, and pedagogical commission), as well as individuals with first and second-degree disabilities with mental disorders who are homeless or living in substandard conditions.
Earlier, videos circulated on social media showing a woman beating one of the center's residents with a stick. Other footage shows another employee dragging a child by the arm, and attempts to tie up another boy.
The agency conducted an investigation into the incident, noting that the videos were published by employees of the Andijan Regional Office of the Social Protection Agency.
Following the investigation, six teachers and one nurse featured in the videos were fired. Furthermore, disciplinary action was taken against the responsible employees who failed to ensure proper oversight of the teachers' work (the specific measures were not specified).
Medical specialists from the district medical association examined all children in the center. Additional CCTV cameras were also installed near the playgrounds.
