Seven more cogeneration stations will be built in Tashkent.

Seven new cogeneration plants, designed for the simultaneous production of heat and electricity, are planned for construction in Tashkent. The total project cost is estimated at $173 million, according to the press service of the Tashkent city administration.

According to a presentation by Veolia Energy Tashkent, a company engaged in energy supply development, the combined thermal capacity of these plants will be 182 Gcal and electrical capacity 203 MW. The new facilities will be located in the Uchtepa, Shaykhantakhur, Yunusabad, Mirzo-Ulugbek, Yashnabad, Mirabad, and Sergeli districts.

The investment agreement for this project was signed in July. The relevant government decree is expected to be adopted in August, and delivery of the necessary equipment will begin in September. Commissioning of the cogeneration plants in the Yashnabad and Yangikhayat districts is scheduled for December of this year, with the remaining facilities expected to open in the summer of 2027.

These complexes will provide heat and electricity to 66 social facilities and 549 residential apartments. This will involve the installation of 66 km of power grids, 141 km of heating grids, and 613 individual heating units.

The cogeneration complexes will be able to generate 1.4 million Gcal of heat and 1.6 billion kWh of electricity annually. This is expected to save 107 million cubic meters of gas and 4.4 million tons of water per year. The total resource savings are estimated at 220 billion soums.

The implementation of cogeneration technologies in Tashkent began with a Cabinet of Ministers resolution on January 20, 2023, which covered 11 mahallas located at the end of the heating grid. One such facility in the Chilanzar district was later personally inspected by the president.

By a presidential decree on January 30, 2025, the project was expanded to include four more districts of the capital. By December of that same year, a large cogeneration center was built in the Yunusabad district, and Shavkat Mirziyoyev also inspected its operations.

In July 2026, the president visited the new cogeneration center in the Uzgarish mahalla in the Sergeli district, which cost $5.8 million to build.
