In the Yangiyul district of the Tashkent region, Energy Minister Sherzod Khodjaev visited a modern 4-hectare greenhouse complex that uses heat pumps instead of traditional gas and coal for heating, according to the Ministry of Energy of Uzbekistan.
The greenhouse complex was built by Yangiyo'l – Agro Star LLC in the Bunyodkor mahalla of the Yangiyul district using Chinese technology.
The complex's heating system operates exclusively on electricity, using specialized heat pumps.
Gas and coal are not used to heat the greenhouses.
The greenhouses are also equipped with a special heat-saving covering. In winter, it helps retain heat, and in summer, it opens to maintain an optimal indoor temperature.
The complex is equipped with solar panels with a total capacity of 100 kW. They are expected to generate approximately 252,000 kWh of electricity annually, of which approximately 24,000 kWh is planned to be sold as surplus.
The conditions created in the greenhouses allow for up to three harvests per year, ensuring year-round use of the production space.
Main construction work on the site has been completed. A 400 kVA transformer has been installed at the complex. Water is drawn from seven sources to provide water supply.
The project includes the comprehensive implementation of energy-saving solutions, including heat pumps, heat-saving coatings, and solar panels.
According to the Ministry of Energy, these technologies reduce heat and electricity consumption and enable agricultural production without the use of gas or coal.
