The visit of the US Special Envoy for South and Central Asia, Sergio Gor, to ancient Bukhara Sharif became an important expression of mutual understanding and cultural dialogue between the two countries.
— In modern international relations, diplomacy is not limited only to official negotiations and political meetings. I have heard a lot about the charm of your country, especially Bukhara. Therefore, I really want to start the visit with a tour of historical sites. This is very interesting for me,
— Sergio Gor said as he stepped off the plane.
According to Olim Jurayev, head of the press service of the Bukhara region khokimiyat, to "Xabar.uz", at Ambassador Sergio Gor's own request, the trip began with viewing historical places. He got acquainted with such historical monuments as the Ismail Samani Mausoleum, Bolo Hauz Mosque, Ark Citadel, Kalyan Minaret, Nodir Divan-begi Madrasah, and the Lyabi Hauz complex.
— It is clearly visible that these architectural monuments embody the multi-century creative potential, high taste, and rich spiritual world of your people. I was amazed by the unique charm of your city, which was a center of science, trade, crafts, and culture,
— Sergio Gor said.
The Ambassador's acquaintance with the cultural heritage of the city is of great importance in widely promoting Uzbekistan's historical treasures internationally and developing cultural ties between peoples. Such visits play a significant role in strengthening mutual respect, trust, and cooperation between Uzbekistan and the USA.
It should be noted that it would be incorrect to assess the Ambassador's visit to Bukhara as being limited only to acquaintance with historical monuments. Such trips are also of great importance for strengthening political dialogue between Uzbekistan and the USA, expanding trade and economic ties, reviving investment dialogue, and discussing new partnership opportunities.
During the dialogue with the Ambassador, prospects for expanding cooperation between the two states in the fields of energy, agriculture, transport and logistics, information technology, education, science, tourism, and cultural-humanitarian spheres were discussed. The consistent continuation of dialogues between Uzbekistan and the USA creates additional opportunities to bring bilateral relations to a new level.
