Sambo wrestlers of Uzbekistan won 15 medals at the World Championships in Greece
The youth sambo team of Uzbekistan won 15 medals at the World Championships, which took place in Thessaloniki, Greece. The team's tally includes three gold, two silver, and ten bronze awards.
The competitions were held among cadets, youth, and juniors (male and female). In total, 55 sets of medals were contested at the tournament, with representatives from more than 40 countries taking part. Juniors also competed in combat sambo.
One gold medal for Uzbekistan was brought by Islom Abduzakirov, who won the junior competition in the under-71 kg weight category. Ozodbek Ataev won silver in the under-64 kg category, while Asadbek Matyakubov became a bronze medalist in the under-58 kg weight class. In combat sambo, bronze awards were claimed by Donierbek Muminov and Bakhtjan Mamutov.
On the final day, the team added three more awards to its tally. Akbarshokh Bibolatov took silver among cadets, while Gulnoza Matnazarova and Bakhtier Kaldiboev became bronze medalists. As a result, the team finished the tournament with 15 medals — three gold, two silver, and ten bronze.
