Samarkand officials embezzled over one billion soums of budget funds in a soap procurement scheme

In the Samarkand region, the theft of 1.1 billion soums of budget funds during the procurement of soap has been uncovered. A criminal case has been initiated against the responsible officials of the regional department of preschool and school education.

As reported by the press service of the Department under the Prosecutor General's Office, the audit was conducted by the regional branch of the agency. It was established that the suspects purchased 90,863 units of liquid soap at inflated prices.

As a result, the budget funds were stolen through embezzlement or misappropriation. Investigative actions are ongoing.
