Saida Mirziyoyeva visited Bukhara and announced major projects in the region.

Saida Mirziyoyeva, Head of the Presidential Administration, visited the Bukhara Region to assess progress made since the May meetings. During the visit, she reviewed the progress of the Juizar Canal concrete lining project, visited a recently opened 240-child kindergarten in the Sheykhoncha mahalla, and held talks with regional leaders on tourism development plans.
The Juizar Canal, built in 1938, has become significantly silted up over nearly half a century of operation, reducing its capacity. This has created serious problems with the water supply to agricultural lands and thousands of households in eight mahallas.
As Saida Mirziyoyeva reported on her Telegram channel, 9 kilometers of the canal have been reinforced, with another 10 kilometers underway. The canal's capacity is expected to increase by 60%, saving 12 million cubic meters of water annually, improving water supply for 13,700 households, and ensuring stable irrigation for 8,500 hectares of farmland. A fish farm is already operating near the canal.
New tourism initiatives were discussed during the visit. A branded hotel and associated infrastructure are planned for construction on a 1.18-hectare site. Commissioning is scheduled for the second quarter of 2028.
"The Afshona complex, ethno-houses, the restoration of the Zhuyi Muliyon canal, hotels, and a cluster near the new airport. The goal is to attract 10 million tourists annually, and for Bukhara to become a full-fledged travel experience for them, not just a transit point," the statement noted.
The tourism cluster will be created on 354 hectares along the 24-kilometer highway leading to the new airport. Seven international-brand hotels, five premium restaurants, 120 retail and service facilities, sports areas, and parks will be built here. The project will create over 2,500 permanent jobs. The visit concluded with a visit to the shrines of the seven pirs.
