Sadyr Japarov accused Kyrgyz people criticizing their homeland abroad of manqurtism

On September 11, during an event in the city of Talas dedicated to the 35th anniversary of the country's independence, the President of Kyrgyzstan, Sadyr Japarov, sharply criticized certain Kyrgyz people living abroad.

It is reported that Sadyr Japarov criticized some of his compatriots abroad. At the same time, he expressed special gratitude to Kyrgyzstanis working abroad and contributing to the economy of Kyrgyzstan.

Japarov referred to the works of Chingiz Aitmatov, recalling the image of the manqurt and the tragedy of society forgetting its history, language, and culture.

"Some of our sons, while abroad, look for evil even in the good deeds happening in their homeland for a piece of bread. By doing so, they are showing manqurtism. We will try to educate them and call them to order," the president said.

The president did not specify exactly whom he meant and what measures would be proposed.

Japarov also addressed his compatriots who have been living and working outside the Kyrgyz Republic for decades. He emphasized that far from the homeland, their value and love for the country are particularly felt.
