Former Kyrgyz official held a wedding in Tashkent

On August 30, the wedding of Aymen Matraimov, the son of the former deputy chairman of the Customs Service of Kyrgyzstan, Rayimbek Matraimov, took place at the Marriott Hotel Tashkent in Tashkent.

The wedding ceremony was attended by well-known politicians, public figures, and entrepreneurs from Kyrgyzstan. In particular, former deputies of the Jogorku Kenesh Jusupbek Korgonbay, Elmirza Satibaldiyev, and Ibrohim Junusov, as well as doctor Sabirbek Jumabekov and entrepreneur Asqar Salimbekov, were among the guests.

Russian singers Lyusya Chebotina and Filipp Kirkorov, as well as Kazakh singer Raim, also performed on stage at the event.

According to "PolitKlinika", Aymen Matraimov's spouse, Samira, is the granddaughter of Jaqip Marabayev, a well-known entrepreneur in Kazakhstan's oil sector. She is the daughter of Leyla Soltanbayeva.

Soltanbayeva works as a corporate director at the "Semurg Invest" holding. According to the publication, this holding is connected to the Marabayev family and is involved in infrastructure, transport-logistics, construction, and investment projects.

One of the company's main projects is the "Sarja" multifunctional marine terminal located in the port of Kuryk in the Mangystau region of Kazakhstan. Open sources note that "Semurg Invest" is involved in the development of the Kuryk port infrastructure. The "Sarja" project is linked to the development of the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route.

Rayimbek Matraimov is the former deputy chairman of the State Customs Service of Kyrgyzstan, who became widely known to the public after a series of journalistic investigations into corruption in the Kyrgyz customs.

The investigations revealed that Matraimov and his relatives were linked to control over three major customs terminals and illegal cargo smuggling schemes.

In October 2020, Matraimov was arrested in connection with a corruption case. In February 2021, the Pervomay District Court of Bishkek found him guilty. Prior to the sentencing, he compensated the state for damages amounting to 2 billion Kyrgyz soms. Following this, the court fined him 260,000 soms.

In 2024, Matraimov was prosecuted again. He was charged under articles such as illegal crossing of the state border and hooliganism. He was held in custody for several months.

In November 2024, the Chairman of the State Committee for National Security of Kyrgyzstan, Kamchybek Tashiev, announced that Matraimov had handed over assets valued at approximately $200 million to the state. Following this, Matraimov was released from the pre-trial detention center.

In December, the court found him guilty of hooliganism and illegal crossing of the state border, fining him 100,000 soms.
