Russian writer presents children's book "The Adventures of Nedo the Mouse in Uzbekistan" in Tashkent | Report
A presentation of the children's book "The Adventures of Nedo the Mouse in Uzbekistan" was held in Tashkent. This publication became a bright result of creative cooperation between St. Petersburg writer Kristina Kretova and Tashkent artist Zilola Khamidova.
The book saw the light of day at the initiative of the Consulate General of Uzbekistan. Previously, the fairy tale had already been shown to the Russian audience, and now it has returned to the homeland of the plot — to the country whose ancient cities and rich heritage inspired the authors.
The central character of the story is the charming and curious mouse Nedo. He lives in a library, loves books, and dreams of seeing the world with his own eyes. Once in Uzbekistan, the mouse sets off on an exciting journey through key points of the Great Silk Road: Samarkand, Bukhara, and Khiva. Together with Nedo, young readers will learn about national customs, the peculiarities of traditional cuisine, and the majestic architecture of the region.
Ecology occupies a special place in the narrative: in an accessible and gentle form, the author raises the topic of nature protection and the preservation of the Aral Sea, shaping children's conscious attitude toward the environment.
The book is executed in an engaging interactive format: thanks to an illustrated map, cognitive questions, and game tasks, young readers become full participants in the expedition. The visual world of the publication comes to life through detailed and warm illustrations by Zilola Khamidova, conveying the light, hospitality, and unique spirit of Eastern cities.
The author of the book, Kristina Kretova, is a Russian children's writer, winner of the "Na Blago Mira" (For the Good of the World) award (2019) and the Grand Children's Festival (2021).
The release of the book "The Adventures of Nedo the Mouse in Uzbekistan" is not only a literary event, but also a living example of cultural dialogue between the two countries. Through an understandable and kind fairy tale, young readers learn sincere friendship, discover the richness of neighboring cultures, and learn how important it is to value and protect the world around us.
