Russia launches system for automatic cancellation of migrants' patents
A service has been launched that automatically makes a decision to declare a migrant's patent invalid if he fails to make an advance payment for personal income tax (NDFL).
Starting from August 10, Russia has launched a system for automatically invalidating the patent of foreign citizens if they fail to make an advance payment on personal income tax (NDFL) on time. This was reported by TASS with reference to the press center of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs.
According to the department, foreigners working in Russia on the basis of a patent are required to pay an advance payment every month. If this payment is not made, the validity of the patent is suspended. The Ministry of Internal Affairs also recommended that third parties paying taxes for migrants indicate their full details in the purpose of the payment: last name, first name, patronymic, date of birth and TIN. This is necessary for the correct accounting of payments in information systems.
If the migrant does not agree with the decision to cancel the patent, he can apply to the territorial body of the Ministry of Internal Affairs that issued the document, providing the original receipts for the payment of NDFL.
We remind you that from January 1, 2027, requirements for foreign workers in Russia will be tightened: they will have to confirm that they have sufficient income to support themselves and their dependent family members, otherwise the patent or work permit will not be extended.
The grounds for canceling a temporary residence permit (RVP) and a residence permit (VNJ) are being expanded, new rules for the stay of children of migrants in the country and additional advance payments for NDFL are being introduced, including for those employed by individuals. At the same time, tax authorities will begin to submit information on the income of migrants to the Ministry of Internal Affairs from October 1, 2026.
