Russia launched a large-scale strike on Ukraine: there are casualties in Kyiv, Poland scrambled aviation

On the night of October 7, Russian troops launched a large-scale attack on Ukraine using ballistic and cruise missiles, as well as drones. According to local officials, two people were killed in Kyiv, and buildings and infrastructure facilities were also damaged in Dnipro, Zaporizhzhia, and Kremenchuk.

The Kyiv City Military Administration reported that the consequences of the attack were recorded in the Obolon, Shevchenko, and Podol districts of the capital. Non-residential buildings were damaged in the Obolon and Shevchenko districts, while warehouses were damaged in the Podol district.

In the Darnitsa district, debris fell on an open area and near a garage cooperative. According to Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko, a fire broke out in the garage area, and the bodies of two people were found.

An industrial enterprise was damaged in the city of Dnipro. The head of the Dnipropetrovsk Regional Military Administration, Aleksandr Ganja, initially stated that information about the victims was being clarified.

A transport infrastructure facility was hit in Zaporizhzhia. Acting head of the regional military administration, Mikhail Semikin, warned that traffic on some road sections could be temporarily restricted.

The city of Kremenchuk in the Poltava region was also attacked. According to the regional administration, a missile landed in a residential area, damaging multi-story buildings. One of the enterprises in the Kremenchuk district was also hit.

Against the backdrop of the attack, Poland scrambled its military aviation in the morning. The Operational Command of the country's armed forces announced that ground-based air defense systems and radar reconnaissance had also been put on high alert.

The Command emphasized that these measures were taken as a precaution. They are aimed at protecting Polish airspace, especially areas close to where the fighting is taking place.

A day earlier, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that intelligence had received information that Russia was preparing a new large-scale attack. On the night of October 7, the Ukrainian military also noted the takeoff of Tu-95 and Tu-160 strategic bombers capable of carrying cruise missiles.
