Rice varieties from Egypt adapted to desert climates will be tested in Uzbekistan
Uzbekistan and Egypt specialists have reached an agreement to test high-yielding wheat, maize, and desert-climate-adapted rice varieties under Uzbekistan's conditions. Additionally, the possibilities of establishing experimental fields in the Navoiy region and opening a branch of the Egyptian Agricultural Research Center in Uzbekistan were discussed.

According to the "Dunyo" information agency, these agreements were reached during an official visit to Egypt by a delegation uniting more than 200 representatives of Uzbekistan.
During the visit, the experience of reclaiming Egypt's desert areas for agriculture, and cultivating crops and livestock feed in areas where central pivot irrigation systems are applied, was studied. Special attention was also paid to the development of animal husbandry in newly reclaimed lands and the mechanisms of financing this sector.
The delegation members familiarized themselves with the efficient management of water resources, the use of modern irrigation technologies, and the practice of treating and reusing wastewater.
At the invitation of the khokim of Navoiy region, Normat Tursunov, an agreement was reached to organize a visit to Uzbekistan by a working group consisting of specialists from the Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation of Egypt.
During the trip, issues of cooperation with the Agricultural Research Center of Egypt (ARC) were also discussed. In particular, agreements were reached with the center to test high-yielding wheat, corn, and desert-climate-adapted rice varieties under Uzbekistan's conditions.
The parties also discussed the establishment of experimental plots in the Navoiy region, and subsequently, the possibilities of opening a branch of this research center in Uzbekistan.
