Uzbekistan’s Ambassador Mansurbek Kilichev met with Egypt’s Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation Hani Sewilam to discuss preparations for an upcoming visit, the agency reported. The discussions centered on arrangements for an Uzbek government delegation, together with dozens of farmers and entrepreneurs, to travel to Egypt from September 14 to 20.
Sewilam said Egypt is prepared to host bilateral talks and share its expertise in water resources management, while also expressing Egypt’s strong interest in learning from Uzbekistan’s experience in ensuring water security, according to the report.
He emphasized the importance of implementing the 2009 Memorandum of Understanding signed by the two countries’ water authorities. So far, he said, bilateral cooperation in the sector has mostly been confined to participation in international forums.
After the talks, the minister reiterated his full commitment to providing the support needed to ensure the success of the Uzbek delegation’s upcoming visit.
