Quarterly grades in schools will be calculated using a new system: 10, 50, and 40 points
The quarterly grade in schools will consist of 100 points: 10 points will come from formative assessment, 50 from end-of-chapter assessment, and 40 from the final end-of-term test. This was reported by the Ministry of Preschool and School Education.
The new system takes into account not only the amount of memorized information. It also assesses the understanding of topics, independent thinking, and the ability to apply knowledge in practice.
10 points — formative assessment. During lessons, teachers will monitor how students grasp the material. They will also point out mistakes and give them the opportunity to correct them.
50 points — BSB, summative assessment for the chapter. It shows how well the student has mastered the studied topic or section.
40 points — CHSB, summative assessment for the quarter. At this stage, general knowledge and practical skills acquired during the quarter will be assessed.
Thus, the quarterly grade will be formed from three types of assessment and will total a maximum of 100 points.
