Projects worth a total of 50 trillion soums launched with the participation of the President

With the participation of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, projects worth a total of 50 trillion soums were launched. This ceremony was dedicated to the opening of new facilities in the regions on the occasion of the 35th anniversary of the country's independence.

At the event, the head of state congratulated representatives of the general public gathered in the studios in the regions, and through them the entire nation, on the upcoming great holiday.

Over the past ten years, large-scale reforms have been implemented in Uzbekistan aimed at enhancing human dignity and increasing the well-being of the population. A wide path has been opened for entrepreneurship, and great work has been done to diversify the economy, create competitive industries, and improve the infrastructure of remote districts and villages. Attention has been paid to the spheres of education, medicine, and culture to a new level.

Our President noted that "the last ten years have forever been imprinted in the history of our country as a stage of building the foundations of a new Renaissance - the Third Renaissance."

During this period, the economy grew by more than 2.5 times. Foreign investment of $160 billion was attracted to the sectors of the economy, 2,163 large industrial projects worth a total of $76 billion were launched, and about 6 million people were provided with permanent jobs.

Today, many projects are being implemented in our country with the participation of leading world companies, large investors and international financial institutions. With the increase in investments, the image of our industry is also changing radically.

The Head of State said: "We are moving from a country that exports raw materials to an economy that exports finished products to the world market based on a deep processing chain. Most importantly, along with new enterprises, modern technologies, new professions and highly qualified jobs are also emerging."

This year alone, 56 large modern industrial and service facilities worth $1.7 billion were launched, and 8,800 high-income jobs were created.

Also, 385 schools, 113 kindergartens, 81 hospitals, 7.5 thousand kilometers of roads, 3.2 thousand kilometers of drinking water and sewage networks were built, repaired and reconstructed at the expense of 46 trillion soums allocated from the budget.

At today's ceremony, 72 large industrial and service projects worth a total of about 50 trillion soums and 91 social sector facilities were commissioned in all regions of our country. Their opening was a worthy gift for Independence Day.

15 thousand jobs will be created due to new projects, and an additional 1 trillion soums of revenue will be provided to the budget annually.

Investment projects cover such important areas as energy, agricultural and food industries, metallurgy, automotive, electrical engineering, building materials, mining, textile and light industry.

In particular, a 1,573-megawatt electricity generation capacity was launched in the Syrdarya region, a 200-megawatt wind power plant and a 100-megawatt energy storage system were launched in the Republic of Karakalpakstan. New energy projects in the Navoi region will generate 657 million kilowatt-hours of electricity per year.

Among these projects are capacities that will significantly increase the export potential of our country. Enterprises for the production of textile, knitwear and carpet products launched in the Andijan, Namangan and Jizzakh regions will provide exports worth millions of dollars. New metallurgical enterprises built in the Samarkand and Tashkent regions will also serve to expand industrial cooperation and replace imports.

Our President emphasized that it would be incorrect to measure today's projects only by investment and export indicators. On the eve of the new academic year, many modern facilities are also being put into operation in the social sphere. Among them are 36 kindergartens, 43 schools, 7 higher education institutions and 3 hospitals.

Among them is the modern complex of the New Uzbekistan University, built on an area of 10 hectares in the New Tashkent area based on world standards. Conditions have been created here for 7 thousand students to study.

The Rectors' School has been launched at the higher education institution in collaboration with Harvard University. An "Education Hub" will be created together with Oxford University to improve the skills of civil servants. The Institute of Artificial Intelligence will begin operating on October 1.

Also, the new five-story National Library with an area of 30 thousand square meters is equipped with the most modern equipment. It can serve 1.5 thousand readers at the same time. More than 28 classrooms and halls, conference halls of various capacities have been organized here, and more than 200 thousand books have been collected.

Modern buildings and structures of the University of Economics and Pedagogy worth 400 billion soums have been built in the city of Karshi. 3 thousand students study here, 700 residents are provided with gainful employment.

A new modern medical institution in the Fergana region has created the opportunity to treat 60 thousand patients and screen 30 thousand women per year.

The Head of our state highly appreciated the work of investors and entrepreneurs who participated in the construction of new facilities.

Our President said: "Every investment you make strengthens the foundation of the future of Uzbekistan. Every job you create serves the well-being of families. Every product you produce takes our country's economic potential to a new level. Every commodity you export increases Uzbekistan's competitiveness in the world market."

Gratitude was expressed to the builders, engineers and designers, entrepreneurs and investors who showed dedication in the construction of these projects.

After that, the head of our state pressed the symbolic button, and 72 major investment projects and 91 social sector facilities were put into operation.
