Shavkat Mirziyoyev launched 12 projects worth $176 million in Khorezm

A ceremony to launch new projects and launch the construction of promising initiatives in the Khorezm region was held at the Farovon Khiva Hotel in Khiva with the participation of the president.

Shavkat Mirziyoyev launched 12 projects worth a total of $176 million in the Khorezm region.

The President noted that "from the first days of our reforms in New Uzbekistan, we have set the creation of new jobs and the commissioning of modern facilities as the main direction. To this end, we are organizing work by approving separate programs and resolutions for the Khorezm region, clearly defining both the funds and those responsible."

The volume of foreign investments attracted to the Khorezm region is expected to exceed $2 billion in 2026, from $30 million in 2016.

On the eve of Independence Day, an electrified railway line from Urgench International Airport to Khiva was put into operation. The Urgench-Khiva toll road, which will be the first toll road in the country, is also being launched. This route will reduce the travel time from Urgench to Khiva from 45 minutes to 20 minutes.

The Head of State said: "As a continuation of these works, today we will launch 12 projects worth $176 million with you. We will also start the construction of 15 new power plants worth $7 billion 424 million, which will be built with the participation of foreign partners."

In particular, a $6 billion ecological aviation fuel production project will be implemented in the Tuproqqala district with partners from the United Arab Emirates. The Chinese company Sinopec has been involved in this project, and work has begun on preparing the land and developing project documentation.

It is planned to develop 5 thousand hectares of sandy land with Slovak partners and establish a $170 million bioethanol production enterprise. Currently, practical work has begun on an area of 1.5 thousand hectares.

A 250-bed hotel and shopping and entertainment complex worth $30 million is being built in Urgench with Japanese partners. It is planned to be fully commissioned in 2027.

In cooperation with Saudi Arabia, a modern boiler house will be built in the regional center, creating capacities to provide 183 apartment buildings and 37 social facilities with heat and electricity. An ophthalmology clinic will be established with Turkish partners on the basis of a public-private partnership.

In Urgench district, a project to recycle waste in a closed cycle and produce 71 megawatts of "green" energy will be implemented for the first time in the republic with the participation of Korean investors. $100 million will be invested in it.

Also, a $120 million modern tourist complex "Star of the Desert" will be built on an area of 26 hectares adjacent to the city of Khiva, a $26 million copper industry cluster and a $60 million fiber optic cable manufacturing enterprise will be built in the Urgench district.

A modern university for 5 thousand students, a hotel, recreation and shopping complexes will be built in the town of Al-Khwarizmi, and an "Investors' House" building will be built in the city of Urgench. A total of 6.6 thousand new jobs are expected to be created as a result of these projects.

The Head of State expressed gratitude to foreign partners and representatives of the public participating in the implementation of these projects. The President pressed the symbolic button, launching new projects and starting construction work. A cordial dialogue was held with investors and activists.
