Premier League sensation: Man United lose to Hull City in first round

Unexpected result in the EPL: Manchester United lost to Hull City in the first match of the season.

The match between Hull City and Manchester United in the first round of the 2026/2027 English Premier League season ended. The "tigers" won 2-0.

The match was held at the MKM Stadium in Kingston Hall.

In the 17th minute, Sami Ajayi gave Hull City the lead. In the 38th minute, Nobel Mendy's team consolidated its advantage and made the score 2-0. This score did not change until the end of the match, and the team led by Sergey Yakirovich, who returned to the EPL after a 10-year break, started the tournament with a confident victory.

Last season, Hull City finished 6th in the Championship with 73 points and secured a place in the Premier League through a play-off victory. Manchester United finished 3rd in the Premier League with 71 points.

The Tigers next face Coventry City away on August 29. The Red Devils host Ipswich Town at home on August 30.
