"People's complaints about alimony have decreased" - head of the presidential reception office

According to Farrukh Omonov, the head of the Presidential People's Reception Office, the number of appeals for the recovery of alimony decreased by 3.5% in January-July 2026. This was reported by a Daryo correspondent from a media tour in the Tashkent region on August 13.

Over the seven months, the People's Reception Office received a total of 36,806 complaints regarding the recovery of alimony. This figure indicates a decrease of 3.5% compared to the same period last year.

Also, 2,847 requests for the recalculation of the amount of alimony were recorded in January-July. This figure is 10.9% less than the same period last year.

Earlier, the amount of alimony was increased in Uzbekistan for citizens who do not have official income. This is due to the increase in the average monthly salary in the republic.

As of April 1 of this year, the average monthly salary in the country was 6.82 million soums. In the same period last year, this figure was 5.81 million soums. Thus, the average salary increased by 17.4% in one year.

The amount of alimony for persons with informal income is calculated based on the average salary. Now those who do not have official income pay alimony as follows:

* for one child - 1.7 million soums (previously 1.4 million soums);

* for two children - 2.3 million soums (previously 1.9 million soums);

* for three or more children - 3.4 million soums (previously 2.9 million soums).

In February, it was reported that there were more than 350 thousand alimony payers in Uzbekistan, 61% of whom did not have an official job.

For your information, according to the Family Code, citizens with official income (including informal workers) pay alimony based on their monthly salary. Here:

* for one child - one quarter of the salary;

* for two children - one third;

* for three or more children - half is charged.

The court may reduce or increase the amount of alimony, taking into account the financial and family situation of the parties.
