Parking lots in courtyard areas of Tashkent apartment buildings may be removed
The Tashkent City Khokimiyat provided information on the changes expected upon completion of the work planned within the framework of the "15-minute comfortable environment" project.
According to the project concept, kindergartens, schools, family polyclinics, consumer service facilities, and recreation areas should be located within a 15-minute walk. This means spending less time on daily chores, leaving more time for family, leisure, and social interaction.
It is planned to move parking lots and driveways outside the courtyard territory. The vacated space will serve for children to play, walk, and for neighbors to relax.
Alleys and shaded walkways will be created inside the neighborhoods (mahallas), where it will be possible to walk with baby strollers, rest in the shade, or chat with neighbors. It is also envisaged to organize sports grounds and meeting places for children and adults.
It is planned to install modern video surveillance systems and prominent SOS buttons allowing emergency calls on the mahalla streets.
On October 14, Shavkat Mirziyoyev reviewed presentations of projects aimed at the improvement of mahallas, construction of new schools and kindergartens, and development of the urban environment in the city of Tashkent. Based on the "15-minute mahalla" principle, it is planned to comprehensively modernize 100 mahallas in the capital in 2027, and a total of 400 mahallas by 2030.
