A 65-meter flagpole is planned to be installed and a gastro street developed at the site of the famous "Kopek" in Tashkent

On the station square of the capital, where the famous "Coat of Arms of Tashkent" monument previously stood, the state flag is set to be raised on a 65-meter flagpole. The adjacent section of Taras Shevchenko Street is planned to be transformed into a pedestrian and gastronomic zone.

The Khokimiyat of the Mirobod District reported that the changes will affect the section from Turkiston Street to Nukus Street. The total area of the redevelopment will be 6.5 thousand square meters. In this area, they intend to set up recreation zones, carry out landscaping, and develop infrastructure for visitors.

One of the key elements of the renovated square will be the state flag of Uzbekistan on a 65-meter flagpole. It is planned to be installed on the spot where the "Coat of Arms of Tashkent" monument, which residents called the "Kopek", used to stand. The monument was dismantled back in May 2018. At that time, the district authorities announced an intention to build a fountain on the site.

The new project is expected to be implemented on the initiative of entrepreneurs. The authorities hope that the redevelopment will help create additional jobs and enhance the district's tourist appeal.

Public hearings will take place today, November 3, near the site where the monument was previously located. The concept for the transformation of the area will be presented at the meeting, and residents will be able to voice their suggestions. The final parameters and timelines for the project's implementation have not yet been announced.

Earlier, it was reported that the Taras Shevchenko tourist street would be extended by almost another 400 meters. This phase of redevelopment covers the section from Fidokor Street to Shakhrisabz Street.
