Number of needy people in Uzbekistan has dropped to 1.5 million - President

A meeting chaired by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev has begun on the issues of bringing poverty reduction and income increase work to a new level. The press service of the head of state reported this.

It was noted that at the beginning of the year, the poverty level in the republic decreased by 5.8 percent, and the number of needy people amounted to 2 million 200 thousand people. Currently, this figure has reached 1.5 million people.

It was noted that 49 districts and 3,429 makhallas that have properly organized their work are becoming regions free from unemployment and poverty.

At the same time, the results of the activities of officials in the remaining 159 districts and cities and 5,536 makhallas were criticized for being insufficient.

The President noted that all regions have been given the same authority, resources and opportunities, and noted the need to use them effectively.

The meeting analyzed the main reasons for the lack of results on the ground.

It was noted that the leaders responsible for the "Neighborhood Seven" do not give clear instructions to employees in the region, district, city and neighborhood on how to implement the decisions made.

It was pointed out that some leaders do not know how to properly use the created conditions and give an objective assessment of the activities of the "seven".

It was criticized that the employees responsible for poverty and unemployment in the district and neighborhood have a lot of responsibilities, and no one wants to take responsibility.

It was emphasized that China, which has 50 years of experience in poverty reduction, also constantly gives clear instructions to the subsystem based on the needs of the times.
