"The goal in Uzbekistan is to completely eradicate poverty by 2030" - Ministry of Employment representative

A representative of the Ministry of Employment said that Uzbekistan aims to completely eradicate poverty by 2030. This was stated by the ministry's specialist Farrukh Toshpulatov in an interview with the "Renessans" TV channel.

The ministry representative noted that according to initial plans, it was planned to halve the poverty rate over the next four years, but this goal was achieved much ahead of schedule.

"Among the UN's national goals for sustainable development, there was a goal to halve the poverty rate in our country by 2030. We achieved this indicator in 2025 itself. Now the main goal has been set to completely eradicate poverty in Uzbekistan by 2030," he said.

During the interview, Farrukh Toshpulatov noted that intensive work is being carried out to create stable jobs and sources of income for poor families. According to him, over the past 8 years, 700 thousand entrepreneurs have had their own stable businesses.

“As a result of supporting the business and initiatives of the population, 1 million microprojects have been launched over the past four years, creating 1.8 million jobs. In addition, 250 thousand hectares of land have been allocated as income-generating assets to 800 thousand residents on a lease basis. Through this, production is being established on the basis of the principle of one contour, one product,” the expert said.

At the festive event dedicated to the 35th anniversary of Uzbekistan’s state independence, it was announced that the poverty rate in the country had been reduced from 35 percent in 2017 to 4 percent. In September 2025, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev said that there was a possibility of completely eradicating poverty in the republic by 2030.
