On the eve of the US Secretary of State's visit to Uzbekistan, discussions have once again unfolded about which Central Asian country will bring back more billions from the US in signed agreements. However, a memorandum is not yet an investment, and the arrival of American companies is not yet the launch of enterprises. Rafael Sattarov, a researcher at the Turan Research Center at the Yorktown Institute (Washington), in an interview with Exclusive.kz, suggests counting already built factories and active projects, while also posing a more uncomfortable question: why are the region's authorities so eager to please foreign businesses, while their own entrepreneurs remain without reliable protection?
