Nine dead in Florida plane crash

A business jet went down in a Florida neighborhood on Sunday, killing all nine people aboard, according to the US transport secretary.

The crash took place about nine miles (14 km) from Mar-a-Lago, President Donald Trump's resort in Palm Beach County, at 12:50 EST (17:50 GMT).

The Learjet 60 had taken off from Austin, Texas, and was en route to the Bahamas.

Transport Secretary Sean Duffy called the crash a "horrific tragedy" and said the FAA was dispatching a team to the site to assist an investigation led by the National Transportation Safety Board.

"Please join me in praying for the families and loved ones of those we lost," Duffy added.
