Newport construction not left unchecked — Ministry of Construction

The Ministry of Construction issued a statement in response to a Kun.uz article titled "Ineffective Construction Oversight: A Systemic Problem Using Newport as an Example." The article raised issues related to construction supervision, illegal construction, official liability, and the protection of the rights of citizens purchasing housing in such projects.

In its statement, the Ministry of Construction clarified that the Newport residential complex, located in the Yakkasaray district, comprises nine blocks. Of these, three blocks received positive approval from the Architectural and Urban Planning Council and passed the necessary assessments, and their construction began with the approval of the Inspectorate.

However, for the remaining six blocks, construction and installation work was carried out without proper registration with the Inspectorate. The developer, MEGA LOGISTICS SERVICE LLC, was repeatedly issued mandatory orders requiring it to continue construction in accordance with approved documentation and register the properties. These requirements were not met.

Consequently, company officials were subject to administrative penalties. Additionally, a notice was filed against the developer's technical inspector.

The measures taken did not stop there. The inspectorate transferred all collected materials to law enforcement agencies for legal review and further action. The statement emphasizes that the claim of a complete lack of oversight by regulatory authorities over the Newport construction is untrue: violations were identified, orders were issued, those responsible were held accountable, and the materials were forwarded to the prosecutor's office.
