NASA has released new images of Mars

The Perseverance rover has been exploring Mars for over five years

NASA regularly provides the public with new, unprocessed images captured by the spacecraft.

Perseverance was launched to Mars in July 2020 and successfully landed on the planet's surface on February 18, 2021. Since then, the rover has been exploring the Red Planet, searching for signs that might indicate the ancient existence of microbial life there.

Currently, the spacecraft continues to send numerous images of the Martian surface, rocks, and environment back to Earth.

A total of 19 cameras are installed on Perseverance. Meanwhile, the Ingenuity helicopter, which was delivered to Mars as part of the Mars 2020 mission, carried two more cameras. In total, the Mars 2020 mission was equipped with 25 cameras.

During the mission, a total of over one million photos have been taken by the rover and the helicopter. NASA regularly releases new batches of these images.

The rover's cameras capture various landscapes of Mars, as well as stones and rocks on the planet's surface. Some frames also depict Perseverance conducting scientific research and performing various tasks.

The new images, captured in September 2026, also provide an opportunity to get a close-up view of the unique structure of the Martian surface and the landscape of the Red Planet.
