Jellyfish-like object caught on camera on Mars

A jellyfish-like object captured on camera on Mars has sparked heated discussions on social media. This incident was captured in a photo taken by the Curiosity rover a few years ago. Naked Science reports that this strange object was captured on the planet.
According to information, the photo was taken on August 20, 2023 by Curiosity's right navigation camera. It shows a shape that appears to be floating in the air. The object resembles a dome-shaped head with tentacles.
The most interesting thing is that in another frame taken just 13 seconds earlier, this "jellyfish" is not visible. This situation has prompted some to speculate that there is a giant invertebrate creature that can move at incredible speeds on the surface of Mars.
The hypothesis of a giant alien jellyfish cannot be completely ruled out. However, this could also be a camera defect. Astrophysicist Dr. Joseph Farah believes the strange object may have been created by cosmic rays hitting the camera sensor. He says that when the image is magnified, a perfectly aligned black line of pixels is clearly visible.
He says this also explains the object’s unusual shape. Moreover, this theory is consistent with the fact that this shape was absent in the image just 13 seconds ago. There is another hypothesis: EarthSky suggested that it could have been caused by an electronic malfunction or an error in the data transmission.
The pixel value can change at several points along the way from the camera sensor to the final image file on Earth. This can happen in the data readout electronics, during data storage on the on-board computer, during image compression, during data transmission to Earth, or during further processing.
NASA has announced that it is looking for four volunteers to spend a year in a simulation of life on the Moon and Mars. The program, which will take place at the Johnson Space Center, will see volunteers act as astronauts in a simulated space environment, grow crops, and practice adapting to Mars time.
