Moscow faced a large-scale Ukrainian drone attack on election day

Ukraine launched major drone strikes on the city and region of Moscow. City Mayor Sergey Sobyanin announced that since September 19, more than 1,600 drones have been shot down at Russia's borders, including 450 drones over Moscow.

"The unprecedented attack was clearly planned to disrupt the election. The enemy failed to achieve this," Sobyanin said.

September 20 is the final day of voting for State Duma deputies in Russia. The President of Ukraine stated that ballistic missiles were used in the mass attacks on Moscow. According to him, 10 types of drones and missiles were used in the attacks — FP-1, RZ-100, MICH-2000, "Palyanitsa", "Vendetta", "Lyutiy", "Bars", "Flamingo", "Sіchen", and "Pelikan".

The President specifically highlighted the use of the "Pelikan", also known as the FP-7. This is the first official instance of this missile being used in the war. As a result of the attacks, one of the key enterprises of the Russian oil industry — the oil refinery in Kapotnya, logistics facilities — warehouses in Sofyino near Moscow, as well as an enterprise in the Voronezh region, were damaged.

"Moscow should not build multi-layered air defense rings at the expense of other regions, but rather end its brutal war and choose peace. There are a number of steps on the table for de-escalation: in the areas of energy and food security. Political will is needed for this," the President of Ukraine wrote.
