Over $43 million allocated for the improvement of multi-story building courtyards in Uzbekistan

In 2026, 520 billion soums — over $43 million — were allocated for the improvement of courtyards of apartment buildings in Uzbekistan. These funds will be used to construct playgrounds, pedestrian paths, irrigation systems, and public infrastructure facilities. The amount of funding was announced by the Minister of Construction and Housing and Communal Services, Sherzod Khidoyatov, during the regular "Government Hour" in the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis.

A separate focus area was the greening of courtyards as part of the nationwide "Yashil Makon" ("Green Space") project. Decisions by the Kengashes of 54 districts and cities have designated areas for creating green gardens near apartment buildings. The care of planted trees and shrubs has been assigned to the contracting organizations involved in creating these green zones.

According to the minister, there are more than 46,000 apartment buildings in Uzbekistan, comprising over 1.6 million apartments. More than 42,000 buildings are serviced by management service companies, and over 700 by homeowners' associations. In other cases, alternative forms of management are used.

Overall, more than 18,000 employees work in this sector, providing housing and communal services to the population.
