More than 200 farmers will be sent to study Egypt's experience
There are 4 million 300 thousand hectares of pasture land in Karakalpakstan. Of this, 2.5 million hectares are not being used sufficiently to increase public income and livestock numbers. This was stated at a meeting chaired by the President.
"Beruniy Agrostar" is restoring 2 thousand hectares of land out of circulation in Kungrad, Beruniy, and Chimbay, adapting it for fodder cultivation. Next year, another 5 thousand hectares will be developed. This will create a fodder base for 14 thousand head of cattle.
In Bozatov, 100 billion soums will also be allocated to adapt 7.5 thousand hectares of land for fodder cultivation. An instruction was given to submit a decision within ten days on providing a subsidy of 500 thousand soums per hectare for fodder cultivation.
To study Egypt's experience, more than 200 farmers, including 26 farmers from Karakalpakstan, have been sent to this country. In the initial stage, Egypt's experience will be implemented on 20,000 hectares of Karakalpakstan's territory.
In order to increase fodder cultivation in desert areas, specialists and technologies will be attracted from Egypt. A $60 million loan and an $8 million grant being received from the Asian Development Bank for livestock breeding will be primarily directed to this project.
Additional opportunities will be created for establishing large complexes in livestock breeding.
In May, 1 trillion 600 billion soums of resources were allocated to increase livestock numbers. In practice, projects worth up to 5 billion soums are being provided with 10% loans for a period of ten years.
The proposal of Karakalpak livestock breeders to increase the loan amount up to 50 billion soums for establishing complexes with 1-2 thousand head of livestock was supported.
Livestock breeders from Beruniy stated that they are ready to bring in 5 thousand head of livestock if the conditions for compensating air transport of cattle are eased. Now, 10% of the cost of pedigree bulls brought to Karakalpakstan by plane, up to 4 million soums per head, will be subsidized.
Within a month, projects for livestock complexes with at least 100 thousand head, with specific locations, initiators, and funding, will be formed. The procedure for allocating loans for the purchase of cattle will be simplified, and funds will be provided based on the conclusion of the district headquarters.
In Takhtakupir, fodder cultivation will be established based on the Xinjiang experience.
5 thousand head of sheep and goats will be brought from Mongolia, Turkey, China, and Australia to be bred in the conditions of Karakalpakstan. For this, an instruction was given to allocate 1 thousand hectares of land in a month.
By the end of the year, projects will be formed on 10-15 thousand hectares, and the task of establishing the breeding of 100 thousand head of sheep and goats within a year was set.
Our President noted that yesterday he got acquainted with the activities of the "Kegeyli naslli parranda" enterprise.
Supporting the entrepreneur, instructions were given to increase poultry production capacity by 2-3 times within a year and turn the enterprise into a holding. The issue of necessary funds will be resolved.
Courses teaching poultry farming will be organized at the technical school in Kegeyli.
