Narendra Modi spoke about this during a meeting with Vladimir Putin in Bishkek ahead of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization summit.

"We need to move from endless war to the end of war, to the cessation of hostilities," the Indian prime minister said.
Modi said that India has been supporting all peace efforts in Ukraine and will continue to do so.
He noted that while every day of war pushes humanity back, every step taken towards peace gives hope to all of humanity.
"We must resolve all problems peacefully. This is what all of humanity demands," Modi said.
Vladimir Putin, in turn, noted that relations between Russia and India are strengthening on the basis of the principles of a "specially privileged strategic partnership."
According to Russian media, in response to Modi's calls to end the war, Putin said that Moscow was moving in the direction of a peaceful settlement.
India has maintained close economic ties with Moscow even after Russia's large-scale invasion of Ukraine began. In particular, the country continued to purchase Russian oil in large quantities.
According to Bloomberg, some goods subject to Western sanctions, including microchips and machine tools that can be used in the Russian military industry, have also been delivered to Russia through India.
Also, after the intensification of Ukrainian attacks on Russian oil refineries this summer and the emergence of fuel shortages in the country, Moscow began buying gasoline from India. According to Bloomberg, the first batch was delivered to Russia on August 5.
On August 31, Vladimir Putin also met with Chinese President Xi Jinping in Bishkek. The parties discussed issues of further strengthening strategic cooperation between Russia and China.
