Indian Prime Minister arrives in Uzbekistan on state visit

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to pay a state visit to Uzbekistan.

At the invitation of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Uzbekistan on August 29-30.

According to the presidential press service, the upcoming talks will discuss issues of further developing and strengthening the Uzbek-Indian strategic partnership, as well as expanding multifaceted cooperation.

The talks will focus on expanding systematic political dialogue and cultural and humanitarian exchanges, promoting specific programs and cooperation projects in trade, energy, chemistry, geology, healthcare, pharmaceuticals, agriculture, mechanical engineering and other sectors of the economy. Views will also be exchanged on current issues of international politics and the regional agenda, as well as cooperation within multilateral structures.

At the end of the meeting, it is planned to sign a significant package of bilateral documents.

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has visited Uzbekistan three times before. He first visited in July 2015, when India expressed its interest in expanding ties with Uzbekistan. In June 2016, he visited Tashkent to attend the Shanghai Cooperation Organization summit. In September 2022, he visited to attend the SCO summit in Samarkand. The 2026 visit will be his fourth to Uzbekistan.
