Mirziyoyev expressed dissatisfaction with the performance of those responsible for poverty reduction in 159 districts and cities.

President Shavkat Mirziyoyev criticized the unsatisfactory results of poverty alleviation efforts in 159 districts and cities across Uzbekistan. He noted that, despite the funds provided and equal conditions, the effectiveness of programs at the local level varies significantly.

Since the beginning of this year, the number of citizens in need of assistance has decreased from 2.2 million to 1.5 million. Meanwhile, 49 districts and 3,429 mahallas are gradually achieving the status of areas free of unemployment and poverty. However, in the remaining 159 districts and cities, as well as in 5,536 mahallas, the results achieved were deemed insufficient.

The head of state specifically highlighted shortcomings in the organization of the so-called "mahalla seven." According to him, managers often fail to provide clear instructions to local employees, and some specialists avoid taking responsibility. Over the past three years, 314 trillion soums in loans have been allocated to develop entrepreneurship in mahallas. However, the impact on poverty reduction is far from being felt in all districts, the president emphasized.

At the end of the first half of the year, the poverty and unemployment rates in Uzbekistan decreased to 4.5%. 2,700 mahallas have been designated as poverty-free.
