Measures taken against more than 20 bloggers and social media activists who posted hidden advertising
The Competition Committee announced that since the beginning of the year, enforcement measures have been applied to more than 20 group and channel administrators, bloggers, vinis, and other social media activists who did not separate advertising from other information on social networks and did not label it as "advertising" or "on the rights of advertising."
According to the Committee, advertisers on social networks are increasingly striving to place advertisements on popular channels and platforms. In such cases, it is required to separate advertising information from regular materials and clearly indicate that it is an advertisement.
According to the Law "On Advertising," advertisements must be placed separately from other information with the label "advertising" or "on the rights of advertising." If an analytical article, review, opinion, or commentary has a commercial purpose, it must also be clearly labeled as advertising.
Nevertheless, the committee noted that cases of non-compliance with these requirements are common on social networks. In particular, it was found that the relevant label indicating advertising was not placed and the requirements for advertising identification were not followed.
Regarding such violations, appropriate enforcement measures have been applied during the past period to more than 20 group and channel administrators (admins), bloggers, vinis, and other social media activists operating on social networks.
The Competition Committee called on media representatives, administrators of groups and channels on social networks, bloggers, vinis, and other social media activists to strictly comply with legislative requirements when preparing and distributing information. It warned that if violations are detected, measures will be taken in accordance with the established procedure.
Earlier, the Tax Committee announced that it is planned to introduce an online advertising labeling system to track the income of bloggers.
According to the Committee, such labeling will make it possible to determine how much advertising bloggers post and what their income is.
In February 2026, a delegation of the Tax Committee of Uzbekistan visited the Federal Tax Service of Russia to study the practice of tax control over bloggers' income.
In 2025, the advertising activity of bloggers in Uzbekistan was officially included in the country's GDP.
The market size was estimated at 62 million dollars.
Also, bloggers in Uzbekistan with more than 3 million subscribers earned 2.7 billion soums during 2025 and paid 110.4 million soums in taxes to the budget.
