More than 50 gambling sites blocked in Uzbekistan
More than 50 websites promoting gambling and risk-based games have been blocked in Uzbekistan. The Competition Committee reported this.
According to the committee, this is the number of sites blocked in the first half of 2026, during which time requests were sent to the competent authorities to take action against 76 websites.
The committee conducted a total of more than 13.5 thousand studies on advertisements over the past period, of which violations of the law were identified in about 6 thousand. In particular, out of 545 advertisements for medicines and biologically active additives, 51 were found to not meet the requirements of the law. Also, out of about 250 cases, 54 were found to contain advertisements for prohibited products such as tobacco, alcohol, electronic cigarettes, and beer. As a result of 165 monitoring, totalizator and bookmaker advertising was recorded in 82 cases.
During the study on social networks, it was revealed that 3 bloggers (weiners) with a large audience posted staged video clips promoting gambling and bookmaker services on their pages, and an administrative report was drawn up against them.
Urgent measures were taken to eliminate the above violations, and the established measures of influence were applied to 83 subjects. In addition, cases were identified where some companies manufacturing and selling medicines and medical devices used forms, expressions and images in their advertising of medicines that contradict national and family traditions, as well as generally accepted norms of morality and spirituality.
This case was investigated by the committee, and an appropriate conclusion was obtained from the authorized state body regarding the advertising clip. According to the presented conclusion, it was noted that the content of the commercial and the situations depicted in it contradict generally accepted norms of morality and spirituality.
When the Committee conducted an examination and analysis of advertising, 25% of more than 18 thousand advertisements were found to be in violation of the requirements of the legislation on advertising.
During 2026, the Committee sent about 10 thousand warnings and requests to the media, Telegram groups and channels, administrators of websites registered in the “.uz” domain, and advertising agencies, as well as advertisers, producers, distributors, and customers in various fields and areas in order to ensure compliance with the requirements of the law and prevent violations.
Article 46 of the Law "On Advertising" prohibits the advertising of gambling and other games of chance, including those organized using telecommunications networks, as well as the Internet. In 2025, about 70 sites promoting bookmaking services were blocked in Uzbekistan.
