6,000 advertising violations identified in Uzbekistan

In the first half of the year, the Competition Committee of Uzbekistan identified approximately 6,000 advertising violations, including the promotion of gambling and prohibited products.

In the first half of 2026, the Competition Committee of Uzbekistan identified nearly 6,000 violations of advertising laws, conducting over 13,500 inspections and studies. During the monitoring, instances of advertising for prohibited products, gambling, and bookmaking were discovered, according to the Competition Committee of Uzbekistan.

In particular, 545 advertising materials related to medicines and dietary supplements were examined. In 51 cases, the advertising did not comply with established standards.

Nearly 250 advertising materials were checked for advertising of prohibited products. In 54 cases, violations related to the advertising of tobacco, alcohol, e-cigarettes, and beer were identified.

Special attention was paid to the advertising of betting and bookmaking services. Of the 165 inspections, such advertising was detected in 82 cases.

The Committee also sent requests to authorized bodies for action against 76 websites advertising gambling and risky games. As a result, more than 50 of them were blocked.

Three bloggers with large audiences were identified on social media who published staged videos advertising gambling and bookmaking services. Administrative violation reports were filed against these bloggers.

To address the identified violations, legally prescribed measures were taken against 83 individuals.

As an example, the Committee cited the distribution of videos on social media advertising gambling under the Melbet brand. Individuals were held administratively liable for these incidents, and the relevant materials were submitted to court.

The monitoring also uncovered instances of inappropriate advertising of medicines and medical devices. Some manufacturers and sellers used forms, expressions, and imagery that, according to the conclusion of the authorized government agency presented by the Committee, contradicted national and family traditions, as well as generally accepted moral and spiritual norms.

To protect the rights of an unspecified group of consumers, the Committee received more than 30 expert opinions from the Ministry of Health. In more than 20 cases, the identified deficiencies were corrected, after which the established measures were taken against the violators.

In total, the Committee examined over 18,000 advertising materials as part of its advertising review and analysis. For 25% of these, conclusions were issued regarding non-compliance with advertising legislation.

Furthermore, during 2026, the Committee sent approximately 10,000 warnings and requests to media outlets, Telegram group and channel administrators, websites in the ".Uz" domain zone, advertising agencies, as well as advertisers, producers, distributors, and advertising clients.

These measures are aimed at ensuring compliance with advertising legislation and preventing violations in various sectors. The Competition Committee continues to monitor the advertising market and work to protect consumer rights.
