Mass drone attacks launched against Rostov and Yaroslavl
On the night of September 17, drones attacked Russia's Rostov and Yaroslavl regions. According to OSINT analysis and monitoring channels, a fire broke out in the area of a military airfield in Rostov-on-Don. In Yaroslavl, the local governor confirmed that the "Slavneft-YANOS" oil refinery was damaged. Russian officials stated that there were no casualties as a result of the attacks.
Massive drone attacks launched on Rostov and Yaroslavl
On the night of September 17, the Russian city of Rostov-on-Don faced a massive drone attack. The governor of the Rostov region, Yuri Slyusar, said that the consequences of the attack were also recorded on the ground and a fire broke out, which was later quickly extinguished.
According to the governor, there were no casualties.
Due to damage to a transformer substation, power outages occurred in the Voroshilov, Lenin, Oktyabr, and Kirov districts of Rostov-on-Don.
The windows, roofs, and glass of six private houses, as well as outbuildings, were damaged. Drone debris was found in various locations in Rostov and the Myasnikovsky district.
Slyusar stated that more than 50 drones were shot down over the territory of the Rostov region during the night. They were recorded in Rostov, Bataysk, Kamensk-Shakhtinsky, Taganrog, and ten districts of the region.
The Astra publication, relying on OSINT analysis, reported that a fire broke out in the area of the "Rostov-on-Don - Tsentralny" military airfield in Rostov-on-Don.
According to open-source analysis, the fire may have occurred around the area where military aircraft and helicopters are located.
The Ukrainian monitoring channel Exilenova+ also claimed that Ukrainian drones struck the military airfield and a large fire broke out on its territory. According to the channel, aviation and military base infrastructure came under strike.
However, this information has not been confirmed by Russian authorities. The governor of the Rostov region did not provide information about the specific targets of the attack.
On the same night, the city of Yaroslavl was also attacked by drones. Telegram channels reported that one of the main targets of the attack was the "Slavneft-YANOS" oil refinery.
The enterprise is among the five largest oil refineries in Russia and is noted as the largest refinery in the north of the country.
The plant produces motor gasoline, Euro-5 standard diesel fuel, aviation kerosene, and fuel for jet engines.
