A military delegation of Kyrgyzstan, led by the First Deputy Minister of Defense Talaybek Sharsheev, visited Azerbaijan, where it held talks with the leadership of the defense department and got acquainted with the military training system.
The key item of the visit was a meeting with the Minister of Defense of Azerbaijan, Colonel General Zakir Hasanov. The parties discussed the prospects for expanding bilateral cooperation, emphasizing the organization of joint military exercises and training, the exchange of professional experience, and increasing the combat readiness of the armed forces.
A separate section of the program was dedicated to military education. Representatives of Kyrgyzstan visited the Jamshid Nakhchivanski Military High School and the National Defense University of Azerbaijan, where they were shown the features of educational programs, training infrastructure, and approaches to officer training.
In addition, the delegation visited the Heydar Aliyev Military Institute, where it met with servicemen from Kyrgyzstan undergoing training there. Representatives of the Ministry of Defense of the Kyrgyz Republic inquired about their training conditions, mastery of the curriculum, and the progress of their studies.
During their stay in Azerbaijan, the delegation also visited the Alley of Martyrs in Baku, where the Kyrgyz servicemen paid tribute to the memory of those who died for the independence and territorial integrity of the republic by laying flowers at the Eternal Flame memorial.
Military contacts between the two countries are developing within the framework of a separate plan for bilateral cooperation for 2026. In October, a delegation of the Special Operations Forces of Kyrgyzstan visited Baku, getting acquainted with the weaponry, equipment, military vehicles, and training tactics of the Azerbaijani special forces.
