We Will Be Friends as Generals
As part of the working visit of the delegation of the Ministry of Defense of Uzbekistan to Baku, bilateral talks were held between the heads of the defense departments of Uzbekistan — Lieutenant General Shukhrat Khalmukhamedov and his Azerbaijani counterpart Colonel General Zakir Hasanov.
Following the meeting, the defense ministers of the two republics signed a joint military cooperation plan for 2027. The heads of the defense departments noted that the partnership between the countries is based on strong traditions of friendship and mutual trust. The parties also emphasized the key role of interstate dialogue in the modernization and qualitative improvement of the combat capability of the armed forces of Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan.
Members of the Uzbek delegation also took part in the opening ceremony of the 6th Azerbaijan International Defence Exhibition "ADEX 2026", which is taking place in Baku. Notably, at this exhibition, considered one of the most authoritative and effective platforms in the region in the field of defense industry, representatives of the military-industrial complex of the Republic of Uzbekistan are demonstrating the production and technological potential of the domestic defense industry under the single national brand "Made in Uzbekistan".
Within the framework of the exhibition, the Minister of Defense of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Lieutenant General Shukhrat Khalmukhamedov, met with the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev. During the meeting, the Minister of Defense presented the Azerbaijani leader with modern samples of defense products manufactured by domestic enterprises and displayed at the national stand, including ammunition, personal protective equipment, military gear, aviation equipment, as well as unmanned aerial vehicles and anti-drone systems.
During the bilateral talks, confidence was expressed that the "ADEX" and "Securex Caspian" exhibitions would make a significant contribution to establishing new business contacts between the participants, as well as to strengthening military-technical cooperation.
