“There are many who got divorced and changed their profession” — doctor on the severe consequences of surgeries performed by uneducated cosmetologists
In Uzbekistan, people are facing serious life problems due to faulty surgeries performed by cosmetologists without medical education.
According to a highest-category maxillofacial surgeon, some people perceive plastic surgery as a business. In reality, however, this is a science, and this field should be handled by professional specialists.
“10 years ago, due to opportunities given to medicine, wealthy entrepreneurs opened dental clinics. They did not understand that dentistry is a science and thought of it as a business. Later, they came to realize that many things cannot be done without specialists. Now plastic surgery has reached such a state. Perceiving this also as a business, everyone with money is opening plastic surgery clinics. As a result, cosmetologists without education are also performing plastic surgeries to make money. Because such surgical procedures are not performed according to rules and regulations, they are causing complications,” the specialist said.
Shukhrat Boymurodov expressed confidence that this stage of engaging in plastic surgery will soon come to an end. Because the complications arising from improper surgeries are causing people to face many difficulties. The scientist emphasized that plastic surgery, especially facial plastics, is an extremely complex field. He noted that specialists in this area are trained for 15-16 years in developed countries.
“Unfortunately, current cosmetologists are performing a great many facial surgeries. Firstly, they have no medical education. Secondly, they go somewhere to become an apprentice and perform surgery after seeing it twice. As a result, they are causing thousands of irreversible complications. We cannot tell all of this to the mass media. But very many women come to us. They do not allow themselves to be photographed. There are no few people who even secretly underwent surgery from their families and are walking around with complications. There are very many who divorced their families, changed their professions, and fell into depression,” the doctor said.
In Shukhrat Boymurodov's opinion, the main solution to the problem is related to quality education. At the same time, it is also important to regulate the system on a legislative basis. In addition, every doctor and cosmetologist must perform their work at a professional level.
Earlier, it was established that starting from 2027, medical students will learn to work with patients three days a week. Graduating senior students will spend their final academic year fully undergoing internships in medical institutions.
