Manhunt after one killed and five injured in Swiss shooting, police say

A major police operation has been launched after the shooting at an event near Zurich overnight.

Swiss authorities have launched an extensive search operation following a shooting incident in northern Switzerland that left one person dead and five injured.

"The manhunt for the unknown perpetrator is under way," stated Aargau Cantonal Police. "Possible motives as well as the exact circumstances of the crime are still unclear."

The event unfolded overnight near a horse racing track in Schachen, Aarau, situated approximately 46 kilometers (29 miles) west of Zurich. A rave had been scheduled to occur in the vicinity, continuing into the early hours of Sunday.

Police have cordoned off the area surrounding the racing track, the town's swimming pool, and sports field, advising the public to avoid the location. A significant number of officers have also been deployed beyond Aarau as a precautionary measure.
