Five missing after fire in Swiss Alpine town
Eight others were injured, local police say, with the cause of the fire still being investigated.

Five individuals are unaccounted for and eight others sustained injuries following a fire that "completely razed" a restaurant and its attached apartments in Thusis, a Swiss town, according to police statements.
Preliminary inquiries suggest the fire originated on the second floor, with the cause remaining under investigation, as reported by the Graubünden cantonal police. The authorities indicated they received the call shortly after midnight local time (10:00 PM GMT on Thursday), prompting the deployment of nearly 100 firefighters. A crane was required to open the roof after the stairwell gave way.
Graubünden, also known as Grisons, is an Alpine region in eastern Switzerland renowned as a favored vacation spot for both winter sports and summer outdoor pursuits.
Police confirmed that fourteen people managed to exit the building. Among them, two sustained serious injuries, two moderate injuries, and four minor injuries. The injured were transported to hospitals in Chur, Thusis, Ilanz, and Zurich.
The cause of the fire is currently under investigation by both the police and the public prosecutor's office.
