Man who broke into house in Navoi wearing mask and holding knife gets 15 years in prison

A man wearing a mask and breaking into a house with a knife in Navoi was sentenced to 15 years in prison.

A dangerous recidivist who broke into a house in the Karmana district of Navoi region, held a girl at knifepoint, then tied her hands and feet and stole valuables was sentenced to 15 years in prison.

This citizen illegally entered one of the houses in the district on April 23, 2026, with the aim of robbing someone else's property by force. Wearing a white gauze mask over his face, he attacked a young girl in the bedroom, armed with a kitchen knife.

The victim actively resisted. After that, the defendant tied her hands and feet with a leather strap found in the room, threatened her with a knife and asked where the money was.

“He started searching. He took the ‘strap’ of the bag from the closet and tied my hand. Then he pulled out the knife again and asked where the money was,” the victim recounted the incident during the trial.

The perpetrator of the robbery took gold items and jewelry from the apartment and fled the scene. As a result of the search operations, he was detained a day later and held in custody pending trial.

The defendant had previously been held accountable for various crimes and was found to be a dangerous recidivist. In court, the man expressed remorse for his actions and apologized.

According to the court verdict, he was found guilty of committing a crime under Article 164, Part 4, Subparagraph “b” of the Criminal Code (robbery by an especially dangerous recidivist). He was sentenced to 15 years in prison.

In July 2026, a masked man was arrested and a criminal case was opened in Samarkand after he broke into a bank and demanded money. After negotiations, the offender surrendered voluntarily and was arrested. No citizens were harmed as a result of the incident.
