Leicester City club put up for sale: how much is the 2016 English champion worth?

The owners of the 2016 English champion Leicester City football club have decided to sell the team. According to The Athletic, the club owners are aiming to get $300 million from the sale. However, due to the team's relegation to the third division of the English football system, the club's market value may drop to $200 million.

The prospective buyer will own not only the main team, but also a large infrastructure. In particular, the assets being sold include the King Power Stadium, the Seagrave training base, the Belvoir Drive home of the women's team, land owned by the club, a football academy, a women's team and the Belgian football club Oud-Heverlee Leuven.

Leicester City is one of the oldest football clubs in England. The team was founded in 1884 and was originally known as Leicester Foss, but since 1919 it has been called the current one. As you know, the club won the English championship in 2016. Leicester City is also a three-time winner of the English League Cup. In May 2021, the club won the FA Cup for the first time in its history, defeating the London team Chelsea.
