Representatives of Uzbekistan defeated Janice Tjen and Venus Williams in the semifinals of the WTA 250 doubles tournament in Guangzhou.

Kudermetova and Timofeeva reach Guangzhou Open final

Polina Kudermetova and Maria Timofeeva, representing Uzbekistan, reached the doubles final of the WTA 250 Guangzhou Open tournament held in Guangzhou, China. In the semifinals, they defeated Janice Tjen of Indonesia and Venus Williams of the United States with a score of 6:4, 6:7 (8:10), 10:6.

In the decisive match, the Uzbek duo will play against Yi-Tsen Cho and Yi-Hsuan Cho of Taiwan. The final will take place on November 1, 2026.

The semifinal lasted three sets. Kudermetova and Timofeeva took the first set — 6:4, then lost on the tie-break in the second — 6:7 (8:10), before winning the champions tie-break — 10:6.

The WTA 250 Guangzhou Open tournament takes place in Guangzhou, China, from October 26 to November 1, 2026.
