Korean company to direct $100 million towards construction of robot manufacturing plant in Uzbekistan

The Korean robot manufacturing company ROBOTIS is investing nearly $100 million in Uzbekistan to build a plant that will produce robots. This was announced by the Ambassador of South Korea to Uzbekistan, Won Do-yeon, in an interview with the "Tahlilnoma" program on the "O‘zbekiston 24" TV channel.

"I am confident that in the future, even more joint projects will be implemented in promising, high-tech sectors such as artificial intelligence, pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, and others," he said, speaking about the cooperation projects between Uzbekistan and South Korea.

Established in 1999, South Korea's ROBOTIS is one of the world's leading companies in the field of autonomous robotics. Its technologies are widely used by world-famous giants such as Amazon, Microsoft, Apple, NASA, Google, Samsung, and BMW.

In June 2026, the construction of a plant specialized in the production of humanoid robots and their components was launched by this company in the "Yangi Avlod" special industrial zone in Tashkent. It was reported that the project is expected to create more than a thousand skilled jobs, as well as establish the transfer of advanced foreign technologies and expertise.

He noted that the Kia car plant in Jizzakh is expanding its production capacity, Incheon International Airport is participating as a key partner in the construction project of the New Tashkent International Airport, and the operation of the Korean-made Jaloliddin Manguberdi high-speed trains has been launched. The Ambassador emphasized that the flow of investment into traditional sectors will continue to grow.

Uzbekistan is the only country among the Central Asian states to have established a special strategic partnership with Korea, and Won Do-yeon spoke about the importance of cooperation with Uzbekistan for Korea.

"The Republic of Korea has established special strategic partnership relations not with dozens of states, but with only four countries, including the Republic of Uzbekistan. This testifies to how much importance Korea attaches to relations with Uzbekistan. The uniqueness of Korea-Uzbekistan relations is, first of all, the trust and sincere attitude of our countries towards each other," the Ambassador said.

He noted that currently, about 100,000 citizens of the Republic of Uzbekistan are in Korea for work or study purposes. Recently, the number of Koreans visiting Uzbekistan has also increased significantly. The unique nature of the relations is also connected with the characteristics of the economies of the two countries. While Korea has a high level of technological development, Uzbekistan possesses not only rich natural resources but also a large number of young, skilled personnel. The countries have huge potential for joint development on the basis of mutual benefit.
