Kazakhstan is gradually introducing electronic entry permits
Starting November 1, electronic entry authorizations (ETA) for foreign citizens began to be gradually introduced in Kazakhstan. Starting July 1, 2027, obtaining such a permit will become mandatory for entry into Kazakhstan.

Electronic entry authorizations are being introduced in stages in Kazakhstan
Starting November 1, electronic travel authorizations (ETA) began to be introduced in stages for foreign citizens in Kazakhstan. The new procedure was approved by a decision of the Government of Kazakhstan on October 10.
Such an authorization is primarily intended for citizens of countries with which Kazakhstan has a visa-free regime.
The document can be processed through the QazETA digital platform. This new procedure will also apply to tourism companies, hotels, and organizations inviting foreign specialists.
The system will be introduced in several stages:
From November 1, 2026 – at the Aktau International Airport, and at the "Urlyutobe" in Pavlodar region, "Auxatti" in Zhambyl region, "Atameken" in Turkestan region, and "Nurly Zhol" in Jetisu region road checkpoints;
From January 1, 2027 – at the Astana and Almaty airports;
From March 1, 2027 – at all remaining checkpoints on the state border.
The QazETA platform has been operating in test mode since January 2026. With its help, it is possible to register for entry into the country, obtain an electronic visa, electronic residency, and obtain a certificate on border crossing.
Within the framework of the first stage, until June 30, 2027, foreigners can enter Kazakhstan even without authorization, but they will be given a warning about this requirement at the border. From July 1, 2027, the absence of an authorization will be grounds for refusal of entry into the country.
Processing an ETA for tourists will be free of charge.
The following are required to submit an application:
A foreign passport valid for at least 6 months;
An active email address to receive the response;
Purpose of the trip.
The authorization is issued by the internal affairs bodies in coordination with the national security bodies and is valid for 180 calendar days. At the same time, the duration of a foreign citizen's stay in the territory of the country is limited by the current migration rules (in particular, citizens of Uzbekistan can stay in Kazakhstan without a visa for up to 90 days).
