Kazakhstan has begun the phased introduction of electronic entry permits
Kazakhstan has begun the phased introduction of electronic travel authorizations (ETA) for foreign citizens who can enter the country visa-free. The authorization is issued free of charge at least 72 hours prior to the trip. Starting July 1, 2027, obtaining an ETA will become mandatory for entry into Kazakhstan.

Electronic entry permits have begun to be gradually introduced in Kazakhstan
Electronic permits (ETA — Electronic Travel Authorization) are being gradually implemented in Kazakhstan for foreign citizens entitled to visa-free entry into the country. The new procedure is specified in the Kazakh government's resolution of October 10.
The permit is issued free of charge through the QazETA digital platform at least 72 hours before the trip. Starting July 1, 2027, obtaining a permit through the ETA system will become mandatory for entering Kazakhstan.
The system will be introduced in three stages:
Until June 30, 2027, foreigners can enter Kazakhstan without a permit, but they will be warned about this requirement at the border. Starting July 1, 2027, the absence of a permit will serve as a basis for denying entry into the country.
The permit is issued by internal affairs authorities in coordination with national security bodies and is valid for 180 calendar days. At the same time, the duration of a foreign citizen's stay in the country is limited by current migration rules (in particular, citizens of Uzbekistan can stay in Kazakhstan without a visa for up to 90 days).
This requirement applies only to citizens of countries with visa-free entry rights.
A total of 29 categories of citizens are exempt from obtaining the permit. Among them are heads of state, diplomats, children under 16 years old, persons over 65 years old, as well as transit passengers who do not cross the border.
