In Tashkent, the presentation of the "Charxpalak" art album, which brings together the works of 17 contemporary artists of Uzbekistan, and the grand opening ceremony of the exhibition of the same name took place. Executed by the Arts Academy of Uzbekistan with the support of Kapitalbank, this project is dedicated to the 35th anniversary of Uzbekistan's independence.

The artistic idea of the "Charxpalak" project is built on the principle of preserving cultural heritage through contemporary art and ensuring continuity between generations. As noted in the foreword to the album by the Chairman of the Arts Academy of Uzbekistan, Academician, People's Artist of Uzbekistan Akmal Nur, the contemporary artist acts not merely as an interpreter of cultural heritage, but also as its co-creator, uncovering new meanings and facets for today's era.

The name "Charxpalak", a symbol of continuous motion and renewal, represents the inseparable link between the past, present, and future of national art. The exposition demonstrates how traditions find new interpretation and expression in the works of contemporary creators.

The concept of the exhibition and the art album of the same name is revealed through sections dedicated to four themes highlighted in the art historical research of Kamola Akilova and Aleksey Arapov: "Crossroads of Cultures", "Turan and Iran", "Islamic Universe", and "A New Era of Co-creation".

One of the main symbols of the exposition is a traditional jug, around which 17 knots representing each of the 17 artists participating in the project are gathered. The rope uniting them signifies a shared cultural code, while the jug symbolizes the preservation of national traditions and generational memory. 17 artists. 17 creative voices. They are united by a single bond of cultural heritage.

Participation in the "Charxpalak" project gave Kapitalbank the opportunity to contribute to the preservation and wide promotion of Uzbekistan's cultural heritage, as well as to the development of contemporary national art.

"Cultural heritage is not only a wealth that has reached us from our ancestors, but also a value that we must pass on to future generations. Therefore, it is important for us that such projects are not limited only to exhibition halls, but find their logical continuation and remain open to the general public," said Oksana Lindina, Advisor to the Chairman of the Supervisory Board of JSCB "Kapitalbank".

Within the framework of the event, a round table dedicated to contemporary art and issues of preserving cultural heritage was also held. Artists, art critics, media representatives, and international participants of the Biennale of Contemporary Art took part in the discussion.

The "Charxpalak" exhibition will run at the "Akademiya" gallery until October 30, 2026. Visitors can get acquainted with the works of 17 contemporary artists of Uzbekistan and artistic installations that reveal the connection between national traditions and contemporary art.

In addition, copies of the album will be donated to libraries and cultural institutions of Uzbekistan. This will allow a wider audience to become acquainted with the work of local artists.
